This unit is based on the Year 2 Australian Curriculum HASS Inquiry Skills, Knowledge and Understandings for Geography. The unit begins with students exploring the connections that First Nations Australians have with Country through exploring Dreaming stories and their connection to the land, sky and waterways. Students will also make connections with First Nations Australians by exploring the Indigenous language that is used in our everyday language. Students will then explore their own connections to places and people by looking at personal, family and group connections. Transport and communication methods will also be explored as a way of making and maintaining connections to people and places. The unit concludes with students completing an assessment piece that asks them to reflect on their learning from the unit.
