Connecting to People and Places
This assessment task has been designed to be used at the conclusion of the ‘Interconnections of People and Places’ Year 2 Geography unit. Students will share their local and global connections to people and places using one of the 3 differentiated worksheets, before using the mapping worksheet to show the location of some of the places they are connected to.
Learning goals
- We are learning to understand the way the world is represented in geographic divisions and the location of Australia in relation to these divisions.
- We are learning to understand the ways in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples maintain special connections to particular Country/Place.
- We are learning to understand that places are parts of Earth’s surface that have been named by people, and how places can be described as personal, local, regional and national.
- We are learning to understand connections of people in Australia to people in other places in Australia and across the world.
- We are learning to understand why people choose to visit places, e.g. accessibility, transport, technology and distance, and the reason for visiting, e.g. shopping, recreation, sport, family.
