Group Connections to Places
This simple worksheet has been designed to assist students with identifying the different places that the groups they belong to, share connections with. Students will identify the different places their family, class and additional community group belong to. It has been designed to be used as part of the Interconnections of People and Places Year 2 Geography unit.
Learning goals
- We are learning to understand the way the world is represented in geographic divisions and the location of Australia in relation to these divisions.
- We are learning to understand the ways in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples maintain special connections to particular Country/Place.
- We are learning to understand that places are parts of Earth’s surface that have been named by people, and how places can be described as personal, local, regional and national.
- We are learning to understand connections of people in Australia to people in other places in Australia and across the world.
- We are learning to understand why people choose to visit places, e.g. accessibility, transport, technology and distance, and the reason for visiting, e.g. shopping, recreation, sport, family.

Modifications
For students with writing difficulties, they may choose to simply draw and label some of the different places they are connected to.
