Maths Unit: Counting Money and Making Change
This comprehensive unit takes students through representing different money amounts as well as strategies for calculating change. The unit begins with a presentation to demonstrate money concepts. It also contains posters, activities, games and worksheets. At the completion of the unit, there are two quizzes and an assessment to monitor student understanding.
Learning goals
- We are learning to count the change required for simple transactions to the nearest five cents and represent money in multiple ways.
- We are learning to recognise the relationships between dollars and cents and represent money values in different ways, e.g. calculating change in role-plays.
- We are learning to solve problems involving purchases and calculate change to the nearest 5 cents, using both mental strategies and digital tools.
