Debate Challenge

Debate Challenge

This lesson introduces students to the fundamentals of structured debate. To be used in conjunction with Yahoo Creek: Debate Topics, students prepare and present their arguments using clear reasoning, evidence and persuasive language. They reflect on what makes arguments effective and evaluate the use of persuasive techniques in spoken form. Scaffolded debate planners, visual prompt cards and a peer feedback rubric support student participation at all levels.
