Coin Flip Comparisons
When a coin is tossed it has an equal probability of landing heads side up or tails side up. What happens when you flip a coin 20 times in a row? Are the results different to the probability? Why?
Have students conduct these coin flip experiments in partners or small groups and record the data to compare with others. This is a great repeated chance experiment that will generate lots of interesting class discussions.
Use as a whole class or rotations activity.

- We are learning to conduct chance experiments, including those with and without equally likely outcomes, record the outcomes and the number of times the outcomes occur and to describe the relative frequency of each outcome.
- We are learning to recognise that probabilities range from 0 to 1.
