This worksheet focused on quarters, allows students to demonstrate their understanding by equally dividing objects in quarters, recognise shapes that are not equally divided into quarters and identify a quarter of collections. Learning goals

  • We are learning to solve problems involving modelling addition, subtraction, equal sharing and grouping, using different strategies.
  • We are learning to identify one half as two equal parts of a whole.
  • We are learning to recognise halves, quarters and eighths of a whole and connect halves, quarters and eighths through repeated halving.
  • We are learning to use halves, quarters and eighths in relation to shapes, objects and events in everyday situations, e.g. cutting a pizza, cup and spoon measures.
  • We are learning to recognise halves, quarters and eighths of an object and to understand that a group of objects can be separated to show halves, quarters and eighths of the group.
