MAB Blocks - Cut Out Templates

MAB Blocks - Cut Out Templates

These MAB Blocks are great for reinforcing the concept of place value. You may use these printable MAB blocks to build numbers to 100, 1000, 10 000 and above. You may also wish to reinforce concepts of partitioning, rearranging and ordering numbers.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to show that one- and two-digit numbers can be partitioned in different ways, such as partitioning two-digit numbers into tens and ones.
  • We are learning to count collections of items (e.g. coins) and skip count by 5s or 10s to record how many in the collection.
  • We are learning to count collections to 100 using place value groupings.
  • We are learning to show that two- and three-digit numbers can be partitioned and re-named in different ways, such as partitioning three-digit numbers into hundreds, tens and ones.
  • We are learning to count collections to 1000 using place value groupings.
  • We are learning to add and subtract two-and three-digit numbers using place value groupings.
  • We are learning to partition, rearrange and regroup numbers to 10 000 using place value groupings.
  • We are learning to use inverse relationships between addition and subtraction to find unknown values using different strategies.
  • We are learning to use number sentences and partitioning to demonstrate the connection between addition and subtraction.
  • We are learning to recognise and explain multiplying and dividing by 10 using place value charts, numeral expanders or sliders and to use a calculator to understand the relationship between the place value of digits when multiplying and dividing by 10.
  • We are learning to partition, rearrange and regroup numbers to at least tens of thousands using place value groupings.
