Fantastic Phonemes Game

Board games are a terrific way for your students to practise their new skills. This Fantastic Phonemes 4 in a Row game is a terrific way for your students to practise orally segmenting the phonemes they hear in words. Perfect for your literacy rotations or use as a whole class game on your IWB.

Students simply place a counter on a corresponding number that matches the number of phonemes they land on. The first player with 4 in a row wins!

  • We are learning to segment words into separate phonemes (sounds), consonant blends or clusters at the beginnings and ends of words (phonological awareness).
  • We are learning to segment consonant blends or clusters into separate phonemes at the beginnings and ends of one syllable words.
