This unit is based on the Year 4 Australian Curriculum HASS Inquiry Skills, Knowledge and Understandings for History. Students learn about the causes of the establishment of the British Colony in Australia in 1788. They explore the reasons for world exploration by researching a great explorer. Students investigate the journey of Captain James Cook and Sir Joseph Banks and the significant of this voyage in the establishment of the first penal colony in Australia. They explore what life was like in Britain in the 1700s as a result of the Industrial Revolution.
