Samβs School Perimeter
Get your students applying their perimeter knowledge in a real-world setting! Students will use Page 1 of Sam’s School to calculate the perimeter of each space on the school. Students record their working out and answer on Page 2. This activity is a step up from the Fred’s Farm resource as part our Perimeter Unit Plan.

Learning goals
- We are learning to use scaled instruments to measure length, mass, capacity, duration and temperature.
- We are learning to use scaled instruments to measure length, mass, capacity and temperatures.
- We are learning to compare the perimeter and area of shapes, counting appropriate formal and informal units.
- We are learning to solve practical problems involving the perimeter and area of regular and irregular shapes using appropriate metric units.
- We are learning to calculate perimeter and area of rectangles using familiar metric units.
