Picture It!

This series of worksheets is a great tool for assisting students in making the connection between repeated addition and multiplication. Students are asked to use the number story to write matching number sentences and draw a visual to help them solve the problem. Once completed, these could be used to make a classroom display to show off the different ways multiplication can be represented! This resource is part of a larger Unit of Work- Year 2- Introduction to Multiplication.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to recognise and represent multiplication as repeated addition, groups and arrays.
  • We are learning to divide a set of objects into equal sized groups to solve simple problems.
  • We are learning to recognise and represent multiplication as repeated addition, groups and arrays and to divide a set of objects into equal sized groups.
  • We are learning to solve problems involving modelling addition, subtraction, equal sharing and grouping, using different strategies.
  • We are learning to recall multiplication facts for twos and apply to related division facts using doubling and halving.
