Persuasive Power Pack

This Persuasive Power Pack was designed to enhance persuasive writing skills and critical thinking in the classroom. This engaging pack includes six lanyard cards. You may wish to fold the cards down the middle to create a double sided lanyard allowing students to physically wear their chosen stance during debates or persuasive discussions.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to create, re-read and edit short written and multimodal texts to report on a topic, express an opinion or recount an event using capital letters, punctuation and correct spelling.
  • We are learning to recognise that texts have different features and purposes, e.g. recount, narrate, express opinion, inform, report and explain.
  • We are learning to explore language to provide reasons for likes, dislikes and preferences.
  • We are learning to understand that speech, gestures, writing, symbols and icons e.g. emojis are used to communicate needs, likes and dislikes.
  • We are learning to identify that texts serve different purposes and that this affects how they are organised.
  • We are learning to create texts for a purpose that show our understanding of the connection between writing, speech and images.
  • We are learning to edit our texts and make changes to improve meaning, spelling and punctuation.
  • We are learning to use software, e.g. MS Word to construct texts and add images.
