This coin recognition game is fun and simple. Cut up the pieces and challenge students to identify the matching representations of Australian coins to their written values. This game has been created for students in Years 1 and 2. Perfect to use in numeracy groups or for fast finishers.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to model problems involving addition and subtraction, including simple whole-dollar money problems, in practical role-play situations.

  • We are learning to solve problems involving modelling addition, subtraction, equal sharing and grouping, using different strategies.
