These scavenger hunts are a fantastic way for students to explore and estimate the measurements of everyday items. The resource is part of a larger unit of work on measurement for Year 3.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to identify which metric units are used to measure items and to make estimates using known units.
  • We are learning to measure and compare objects and events using length, mass and capacity and use instruments with labelled markings, e.g. measuring tape, ruler.
  • We are learning to measure, order and compare objects using standard metric units of length, mass and capacity.
