Making Sense of Measurement - Presentation
This presentation is a great resource for teachers to use when introducing and revisiting measurement. The presentation aims to help students familiarize themselves with common metric units used for measuring everyday items. It then explores how having personal referents and an understanding of common measurements helps us to understand the measurements of unfamiliar objects.
Learning goals
- We are learning to measure, order and compare objects using standard metric units of length, mass and capacity.
- We are learning to identify which metric units are used to measure items and to make estimates using known units.
- We are learning to measure and compare objects and events using length, mass and capacity and use instruments with labelled markings, e.g. measuring tape, ruler.
