Measurement Poster

This poster is part of a larger unit on ‘What is Measurement?’. The unit is a great introduction to measurement, giving a clear and detailed explanation of length, mass and capacity. The unit provides numerous worksheets for length, mass and capacity in order for students to practise the skill, as well as small hands-on experiments and an assessment upon completion of the unit to gauge knowledge and understanding of measurement.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to compare objects and events based on length, mass, capacity and duration using comparative language, such as short, wide, long, high.
  • We are learning to compare objects using mass, length and capacity, e.g. heavier, lighter.
  • We are learning to identify which metric units are used to measure items and to make estimates using known units.
  • We are learning to measure and compare objects and events using length, mass and capacity and use instruments with labelled markings, e.g. measuring tape, ruler.
