Life After Federation - Presentation
This Life After Federation - Presentation is a complete 10 lesson, visual teaching sequence designed to accompany the Year 6 History Unit - Life After Federation.
In this presentation, students will learn about how Federation united Australia and changed the laws, government and identity. They will explore how migration and citizenship changed the lives for many people, and shaped the multicultural Australia we know today.
Learning goals
- We are learning to understand significant individuals, events and ideas that led to Australia’s Federation, the Constitution and democracy.
- We are learning to understand key figures, events and ideas that led to Australia’s Federation and Constitution.
- We are learning to understand the changes in Australian democracy and citizenship after Federation, including the impact on First Nations Australians, migrants, women and children.
- We are learning to understand the experiences of Australian democracy and citizenship, including the status and rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, migrants, women and children.
- We are learning to understand why groups of people migrated to Australia since Federation, including migrants from Europe and Asia and how these cultures influenced Australian culture.
- We are learning to understand stories of groups of people who migrated to Australia since Federation (including from ONE country of the Asia region) and reasons they migrated.
- We are learning to understand the contribution of individuals and groups to the development of Australian society since Federation.
