Fraction Connection - Matching Tenths

This Fraction Connection game has been created to provide practise in matching equivalent fractions to tenths. The game involves students matching common fractions, decimal fractions, word form and picture form of tenths, while trying to connect four fractions in a row. Your students are sure to enjoy this fun and educational game!

Learning goals

  • We are learning to recognise halves, quarters and eighths of a whole and connect halves, quarters and eighths through repeated halving.
  • We are learning to use halves, quarters and eighths in relation to shapes, objects and events in everyday situations, e.g. cutting a pizza, cup and spoon measures.
  • We are learning to recognise halves, quarters and eighths of an object and to understand that a group of objects can be separated to show halves, quarters and eighths of the group.
  • We are learning to recognise 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/10 and their multiples to a complete whole and fractions of groups in different ways.
  • We are learning to recognise 1/2, 1/4, 1/3, 1/5 and their multiples to a complete whole and to locate fractions on a number line.
  • We are learning to find equivalent representations of fractions and make connections between fractions and decimals, e.g. ¼ of 1 metre = .25m or 25cm.
  • We are learning to investigate equivalent fractions, e.g. halves, quarters and eighths or thirds and sixths.
