Formality Practice With Fred
In this worksheet, students are given sentences that are written in language that is too informal. Students must use their knowledge of the features in both styles of writing to identify and change the style of writing. This worksheet could be used as an explicit teaching activity, independent activity, during literacy rotations or a guided language group. This resource is part of the Degrees of Language Formality Unit Plan.
Learning goals
- We are learning to recognise that we can use language differently with our friends, family and in various cultural contexts, e.g. periods of silence, but that language is typically formal in texts and in written form.
