Using a Calculator for Fractions of a Whole
This series of worksheets allows students to practice solving fraction of a whole questions using a calculator, while still following the same two step process they are already familiar with. There are three versions of this worksheet at various difficulties (indicated by the star rating in the bottom right corner) so that you can find the perfect fit for your students.
This worksheet was created as part of a larger unit focusing on developing student’s understanding and proficiency in solving problems related to fractions of a whole.
Learning goals
- We are learning to find a simple fraction of a quantity where the result is a whole number, e.g. 1/3 of a number is the same as dividing by 3.
- We are learning to solve problems that require finding a familiar fraction, decimal or percentage of a quantity, including percentage discounts, choosing the best strategies.
- We are learning to investigate and calculate percentage discounts of 10%, 25% and 50% on sale items, with and without digital technologies.
