The World Map

The World Map was created with the intention of being a fun interpretation that shows where each of the continents of the planet lie and allows teachers to direct learning.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to understand the way the world is represented in geographic divisions and the location of Australia in relation to these divisions.
  • We are learning to understand the similarities and differences between places in terms of their type of settlement, demographic characteristics, the lives of the people who live there, and people’s perceptions of these places.
  • We are learning to understand the location of Australia’s neighbouring countries and the diverse characteristics of their places.
  • We are learning to understand the importance of environments, including natural vegetation and water sources to animals and people.
  • We are learning to understand the main characteristics of the continents of Africa and South America and the location of their major countries in relation to Australia.
  • We are learning to understand the influence of people, including First Nations Australians and people in other countries, on the characteristics of a place.
  • We are learning to understand the influence of people on the environmental characteristics of places in Europe and North America and the location of their major countries in relation to Australia.
