Roll A Strategy - Multiplication Challenge

The Roll A Strategy Multiplication Challenge adds excitement and strategic thinking to multiplication revision. Students roll a die to determine the strategy they must use to solve a set multiplication problem.

Strategies may include:

  • Doubling
  • Double-double
  • Break apart (e.g. 5× + 2×)
  • Use 10× then subtract
  • Use 2 known facts
  • Free choice


This game format strengthens students’ understanding of how to manipulate and connect known facts to solve unfamiliar problems. Great for maths rotations, small groups, or one-on-one intervention.
