Problem Solving with Money - Presentation
Use this presentation when exploring the concepts of proficiency with basic facts to estimate the result of a calculation and say what amounts the answer will be between, using rounded amounts to complete an estimated budget, budgeting for events and, modelling and solving multiplication problems involving money. This presentation has been created as part of our Problem Solving with Money unit plan for Year 4.
Learning goals
- We are learning to use estimation and rounding to check and explain calculations including transactions involving money.
- We are learning to solve practical problems involving addition and multiplication including money problems, such as budgeting, using multiple strategies.
- We are learning to use estimation and rounding to check the reasonableness of answers to calculations.
- We are learning to use a range of strategies to solve multiplication and division where there is no remainder.
- We are learning to calculate change to the nearest 5 cents and solve problems involving purchases.
- We are learning to solve word problems by using number sentences involving multiplication or division where there is no remainder.
- We are learning to solve problems involving purchases and calculate change to the nearest 5 cents, using both mental strategies and digital tools.
