Natural Disasters
This resource has been created to support the Year 5 Unit of Work- Impacts on Environment. Students are required to investigate floods, droughts, bushfires and cyclones by recording the following information about them:

Students can work on the investigation in pairs or groups
Learning goals
- We are learning to understand the influence of people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, on the environmental characteristics of Australian places.
- We are learning to identify the impact of bushfires or floods on environments and communities, and how people can respond.
- We are learning to identify the environmental and human influences on the location and characteristics of a place and the management of spaces within them.
- We are learning to understand the influence of people, including First Nations Australians and people in other countries, on the characteristics of a place.
- We are learning to identify the impact natural disasters have on environments and communities, and how people can respond and manage environments.
- We are learning to understand the influence of people on the environmental characteristics of places in Europe and North America and the location of their major countries in relation to Australia.
