This student reference card has been designed to support students when solving addition problems. It has been created to complement the Year 2 Mental Addition Strategies unit and allows students to refer to the nine commonly used strategies.

The pertinent concepts of each strategy has been included so that all nine can be seen on the one page. These are a useful tool for any class working on addition problems.
Learning goals
- We are learning to solve problems involving modelling addition, subtraction, equal sharing and grouping, using different strategies.
- We are learning to recall addition facts to 20 and apply to related subtraction facts using a range of strategies.
- We are learning to use a range of mental and written strategies to solve simple addition and subtraction problems.
