Foundation Deskmat/Placemat

This double-sided placemat was designed for Year 1 classes. Type in your students' names and then print. Once laminated, these placemats will last throughout the year as a highly useful reference. We've designed this placemat to be easily read by students in either A3 or A4 format.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to read and write high frequency words and other familiar words.
  • We are learning to read, write and order numbers to 20 using concrete materials, connecting quantities, numerals and number names.
  • We are learning to count forwards and backwards up to 20.
  • We are learning to use counting or subitising strategies for addition and subtraction in everyday role-play situations.
  • We are learning to use concrete materials or subitising to represent everyday situations that involve equal sharing and grouping.
  • We are learning to use strategies for adding small groups of numbers, e.g. visual displays or concrete materials.
  • We are learning to sort, name, make and describe familiar shapes using obvious features.
  • We are learning to sort, describe and name 2D shapes and 3D objects based on common features.
