This grading rubric assesses students’ ability to identify and analyse figurative and emotive language, including metaphors, similes, personification, idioms, imagery, and hyperbole. It evaluates identification, explanation, use of literary terms, understanding of emotive vocabulary, and connection to the author’s intent. Suitable for Year 6 assessment and feedback.

Learning goals
