Emotive Vocabulary Grading Rubric
This grading rubric assesses students’ ability to identify and analyse figurative and emotive language, including metaphors, similes, personification, idioms, imagery, and hyperbole. It evaluates identification, explanation, use of literary terms, understanding of emotive vocabulary, and connection to the author’s intent. Suitable for Year 6 assessment and feedback.
Learning goals
- We are learning to investigate how vocabulary choices, including evaluative language can express shades of meaning, feeling and opinion.
- We are learning to identify authors’ use of vivid, emotive vocabulary, such as metaphors, similes, personification, idioms, imagery and hyperbole.
