Cohesion with Cam
This worksheet provides students with practice in making their writing more precise and cohesive by combining sentences using appropriate text connectives. This resource is part of a larger unit of work on Cohesive Devices - Year 4.
Learning goals
- We are learning to understand that texts are made cohesive through the use of pronouns, e.g. ‘she’, ‘he’, ‘they’, determiners, e.g. ‘this’, ‘that’, ‘these’, ‘those’, ‘the’ and text connectives that link, e.g. ‘however’, ‘in addition’, ‘therefore’ and that indicate time, e.g. ‘firstly’, ‘then’, ‘next’, ‘finally’.

Differentiation
Modifications

Extensions
Have students identify the type of text connective that has been used.
Encourage students to create their own sentence using a text connective.
