Vocabulary Builder Board Game (Tier 2 Words)
The Vocabulary Builder Board Game (Tier 2 Words) – Set of 3 helps students in Years 3–4 expand their vocabulary by replacing common Tier 1 words with richer Tier 2 alternatives. Each game follows the same interactive format, using 24 outer squares with everyday words and a 24-square inner grid of stronger vocabulary choices. Students roll the die, land on a word, and match it to its improved synonym to place their counter in the inner grid. The first to cover three in a row wins.
This set includes three themed games:
- Vocabulary Builder: Dialogue – Replacing basic dialogue tags like said, asked, and told with expressive alternatives such as enquired, pleaded, and clarified.
- Vocabulary Builder: Emotions – Swapping everyday feeling words like happy, sad, and angry with precise vocabulary such as elated, miserable, and furious.
- Vocabulary Builder: Actions – Strengthening common verbs like run, eat, and look with richer options such as sprint, devour, and observe.

- We are learning to understand how adverb groups/phrases and prepositional phrases can provide details of the circumstances surrounding a happening or state, e.g. at midnight (time), he rose slowly (manner) from the chair (place) and went upstairs (place).
