Two Number Lines at One Time
In this worksheet, students take what they have been working on with number lines and apply it in two dimensions to form Cartesian planes.
This worksheet is part of a larger Year 6 unit which helps students develop their understanding of integers, specifically negative integers, and how they are used in everyday calculations.
Learning goals
- We are learning to use, locate and represent integers on number lines, Cartesian planes, thermometers and in profit and loss.
- We are learning to investigate everyday situations that use integers, e.g. temperatures, and to locate and represent these numbers on a number line.
Curriculum alignment
Australian Curriculum covers QLD / SA / WA / NT / TAS / ACT.

Extensions
If you are interested in doing more work with your students on Cartesian planes, there is a Year 6 unit on that topic available at Teach This.
