CVC Tongue Twisters - Short I

CVC Tongue Twisters - Short I

A presentation for practising CVC short โ€˜iโ€™ words through fun, image-based tongue twisters. This set contains two tongue twisters featuring sequences of pictures (fin, kid, pig / lip, pin, wig) arranged in rows. Students start at the top and point to each image, saying the matching word aloud as quickly as possible. This activity supports phonemic awareness, sound blending, early reading fluency, and pronunciation skills. Teacher guidance prompts are included for when students get stuck.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to understand that a letter can represent more than one sound, e.g. cat, swan, ball, fast etc. and that a syllable must contain a vowel sound.
