Spotting Symmetry - Around the School
This worksheet provides opportunities for students to identify symmetry in their environment. Students are challenged to walk around the school and record examples of symmetry and asymmetry. They are then required to justify their thinking. This worksheet is part of a bigger unit, Super Symmetry - Year 3.
Learning goals
- We are learning to create symmetrical patterns, pictures and shapes and recognise line and rotational symmetry of shapes.
- We are learning to identify symmetry in the environment.
Curriculum alignment
Australian Curriculum covers QLD / SA / WA / NT / TAS / ACT.
Differentiation
Modifications
Students can identify just one example for each column.
Extensions
Students can identify examples of symmetry and mark in the lines of symmetry, on the objects identified.
