Round with Money Worksheet

Round with Money Worksheet

This worksheet has been created as part of our Problem Solving with Money unit for Year 4. It encourages students to understand apply the effect of rounding when adding money amounts; rounding both numbers up, both numbers down and one number up and one number down. Then, students complete the reflection statement, justifying which is the best approximation and why. We have also created an answer key for your convenience.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to use estimation and rounding to check and explain calculations including transactions involving money.
  • We are learning to solve practical problems involving addition and multiplication including money problems, such as budgeting, using multiple strategies.
  • We are learning to use estimation and rounding to check the reasonableness of answers to calculations.
  • We are learning to use a range of strategies to solve multiplication and division where there is no remainder.
  • We are learning to calculate change to the nearest 5 cents and solve problems involving purchases.
  • We are learning to solve word problems by using number sentences involving multiplication or division where there is no remainder.
  • We are learning to solve problems involving purchases and calculate change to the nearest 5 cents, using both mental strategies and digital tools.
