Place Value Robots - Ones to Thousands

The place value robots can be used in to model place value as a whole class, and also in small group/independent maths work. Teach students to extend beyond their understanding of three-digit numbers. Place value is an essential math skill.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to read, write, name and order numbers to at least 1000 using concrete and virtual materials, numerals and number lines.
  • We are learning to recognise, model, represent and order numbers to at least 1000.
  • We are learning to show that two- and three-digit numbers can be partitioned and re-named in different ways, such as partitioning three-digit numbers into hundreds, tens and ones.
  • We are learning to count collections to 1000 using place value groupings.
