This Card was designed to be used as a reference for students on units of length.

It is a part of a larger unit designed to transition students from informal units to measuring, ordering and comparing items in formal units of length.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to identify which metric units are used to measure items and to make estimates using known units.
  • We are learning to measure and compare objects and events using length, mass and capacity and use instruments with labelled markings, e.g. measuring tape, ruler.
  • We are learning to measure, order and compare objects using standard metric units of length, mass and capacity.
