This resource has been designed to assess students’ understanding of ‘5-star writing’ when editing at a foundation level. It focuses on assessing students' ability to use capital letters, correctly use appropriate punctuation, correctly spell, vocabulary and legible handwriting. This resource is part of the Excellent Editing- Foundation Unit Plan.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to create and edit short written texts to record and report ideas and events using capital letters, punctuation and correct spelling of CVC words.
  • We are learning to edit texts for meaning, spelling, capital letters and full stops, for ourselves and others.
  • We are learning to recognise punctuation in written text, such as capital letters used for names and for beginning a sentence and punctuation marks, such as full stops, signal the end.
