English Unit: Syllables
This unit is a great overview of how to identify syllables and count out the syllable beats within a word. The unit covers words with one syllable to more difficult words that have 5 syllables. You will be provided with numerous worksheets to practice the skill of sorting items into their correct syllable number, writing the syllable number and thinking of your own syllable words.
The unit also provides an assessment to test your knowledge and understanding at the conclusion of the unit.

Learning goals
- We are learning to use most letter-sound matches including vowel diagraphs, less common long vowel patterns, e.g. ight, consonant clusters and silent letters, e.g. knife, thumb, when reading and writing words of one or more syllables.
- We are learning to use digraphs, long vowels, blends and silent letters to spell one and two syllable words, including some compound words.
