Connection to Country Assessment Task
This assessment task has been designed to use at the conclusion of the Importance of Country for First Nations Australians unit. It contains 3 parts that allow students to demonstrate their understanding of ‘Country’ and its importance to First Nations Australians. It also allows students the opportunity to demonstrate how they can respect and care for Country, as well as make their own connections.
You may choose to complete the 3 sections over 3 sessions.
Learning goals
- We are learning to acknowledge and use the name of local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander language groups and why the words Country and Place are important.
Curriculum alignment
Australian Curriculum covers QLD / SA / WA / NT / TAS / ACT.

Use the second option for Part C, where students have lines to be able to write a detailed explanation of how they would care for Country.
