This worksheet supports students to develop their ability to create complex sentences. It provides opportunities for students to identify both main and subordinate clauses and use these to complete complex sentences. This worksheet is part of our Year 5 Complex Sentence unit plan.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to use adjectival and adverbial clauses to build descriptions in texts and understand that a complex sentence contains one independent clause and at least one dependent clause joined by a subordinating conjunction, e.g. because, if, that.
