Chance Review

This worksheet is designed to both refresh students on the year 3 chance concepts and serve as a piece of formative assessment for you at the start of this new unit.
This resource is part of a larger unit plan written to move students from describing chance through words, to calculating probability with numbers through a presentation, rotation games, and worksheets.

Learning goals

  • We are learning to identify and describe possible outcomes by conducting chance experiments and compare equally likely, e.g. names drawn randomly from a hat and not equally likely outcomes, e.g. bag of marbles containing 6 red and 2 blue.
  • We are learning to identify and describe possible outcomes by conducting chance experiments and represent probabilities of these using fractions.
  • We are learning to conduct chance experiments, including those with and without equally likely outcomes, record the outcomes and the number of times the outcomes occur and to describe the relative frequency of each outcome.
  • We are learning to recognise that probabilities range from 0 to 1.

Modifications

If this assessment shows that any of your students require revision or support on the Year 3 concepts, there are a number of resources available on Teach This from our Year 3 unit plan that you can utilise in literacy groups.
