Blast Off!
This resource is a simple independent activity that combines counting with material manipulation and covers both counting forwards and backwards from 5.
Students use unifix or other blocks to build towers to match each number on the rocket, verbalising their counting as they build. They can then point to each tower and count up and then back.
Learning goals
- We are learning to count forwards and backwards up to 20.
- We are learning to read, write and order numbers to 20 using concrete materials, connecting quantities, numerals and number names.
