Learning goals

  • We are learning to recognise, compare and classify shapes and objects using obvious features and spatial terms, e.g. opposite, parallel, curved, straight.
  • We are learning to describe the features of three-dimensional objects.
  • We are learning to create, recognise, compare and classify three-dimensional objects using key features.
  • We are learning to sort, name, make and describe familiar shapes using obvious features.
  • We are learning to make, compare and classify shapes and objects using obvious features.
  • We are learning to combine and split composite shapes to identify the common shapes and objects.
  • We are learning to recognise and create tessellations of shapes, e.g. tiling patterns, describing the transformations used.
  • We are learning to describe and perform translations, reflections and rotations of shapes and to identify symmetries.
  • We are learning to construct angles using a protractor and to estimate, measure and compare angles using degrees and name the angles appropriately, e.g. less than 90o equals an acute angle.
