Slick Syllable Actions
This is a fun movement activity that students can do in class OR via remote learning, such as Zoom calls. You can easily do this activity with some students learning within the classroom and others at home.
Either way, it’s a whole class activity and it’s a whole lot of FUN!
Students will use syllable recognition to create dance movements and they will love every minute of it. Perfect for any class, getting to know you activities or use throughout the school year. We also love it to help prepare a piece for school assembly performances

Learning goals
- We are learning to use most letter-sound matches including vowel diagraphs, less common long vowel patterns, e.g. ight, consonant clusters and silent letters, e.g. knife, thumb, when reading and writing words of one or more syllables.
- We are learning to use digraphs, long vowels, blends and silent letters to spell one and two syllable words, including some compound words.
- We are learning to follow a short sequence of instructions and recognize, copy, continue, and create repeating patterns in different ways.
