Sentence Types - Student Reference Card
This card was written as a personal reference for students to refer to during, and after this unit. It is part of a larger unit that was written to help students identify and write complex sentences.
Learning goals
- We are learning to understand that a complex sentence contains one independent clause and at least one dependent clause joined by a subordinating conjunction, e.g. because, if, that, which is used to extend, elaborate and explain ideas.
- We are learning to identify and use embedded clauses to expand the variety of complex sentences and extend ideas, e.g. My bike, which is very old (embedded clause), is broken.
