Problem Solving Perimeter and Area
This open-ended task has students exploring the relationship between area and perimeter to problem solve a range of questions. Using a geoboard or dot paper, students will investigate shapes with the same area but different perimeters as well as shapes with different areas and the same perimeter.
Learning goals
- We are learning to solve problems involving the comparison of lengths and areas using appropriate units.
- We are learning to use the formula for the area of a rectangle and use it to solve practical problems.
