Lattice Multiplication Poster
The Italian Lattice Multiplication Poster explores this technique of multiplication as outlined in the Australian Curriculum. It has been created to support the Year 5 curriculum.
Learning goals
- We are learning to solve problems involving multiplication of large numbers by one or two-digit numbers using efficient mental or written strategies and appropriate digital technologies, e.g. area model, arrays and Italian Lattice Method.
- We are learning to select and apply efficient mental and written strategies and digital technologies to solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with whole numbers.
- We are learning to solve problems involving multiplication of large numbers by 1- or 2-digit numbers using efficient mental or written strategies and appropriate digital technologies, e.g. arrays.
- We are learning to solve practical problems involving natural and rational numbers and percentages in financial contexts.
