Journal Sentence Starter Cards
The Journal Sentence Starter Cards provide 45 engaging and imaginative prompts designed to help students get started with daily or weekly journal writing. Prompts include open-ended sentence stems like:
• “If I could live in any book or movie…”
• “One rule I would make for the world…”
• “My favourite family tradition is…”
These cards encourage creative thinking, personal reflection, and consistent writing practice. Print, laminate, and store as a rotation or warm-up tool in your writing corner or literacy block.

Modifications

• Have students create their own sentence starters after modelling.
