Halves In My Home

Halves In My Home

This engaging and hands on homework / remote learning activity will help support your students to recognise and split real life objects and simple collections of items found at home, in half.

Send home for homework or as a remote learning task. If students do not have the items listed at home, they can choose any other items that are available. Students can take photos of their halves and bring back into the class.

  • We are learning to use halves, quarters and eighths in relation to shapes, objects and events in everyday situations, e.g. cutting a pizza, cup and spoon measures.
  • We are learning to recognise halves, quarters and eighths of a whole and connect halves, quarters and eighths through repeated halving.
  • We are learning to recognise halves, quarters and eighths of an object and to understand that a group of objects can be separated to show halves, quarters and eighths of the group.
