This comprehensive unit takes students through the purpose, structure and features of the different text types. The unit begins with a presentation to begin conversations about the different purpose, structure and features of text types. The unit also contains posters, student reference cards, activities, worksheets and a quiz. At the completion of the unit, an assessment has been included to monitor student understanding.

  • We are learning to understand the structures and language features of text types, such as narratives, procedures, explanations, discussions, persuasive texts and information reports.
  • We are learning to identify the features of online texts, including chapters, headings, subheadings, home pages and sub pages and how they assist with navigation.
